Abstract
Introduction: The aim of this research was to determine the effect of 12 weeks of aerobic exercise with flaxseed consumption on inflammatory factors in obese diabetic women.
Methods: 40 obese diabetic women under the supervision of medical centers in Lamard city with a body mass index ≤ 25 were selected and randomly assigned to one of the four groups of aerobic exercise, flax seed supplement, aerobic exercise + flax seed supplement and control. Aerobic training group performed aerobic exercises for 12 weeks, 3 sessions per week and 60 minutes each session. The flax supplement group consumed 0.62 grams of flax powder per kilogram of body weight in three meals. The control group did not make any changes in their life plan. Blood samples were taken from the participants before the intervention and after 12 weeks of fasting.
Results: The findings of the present study showed that 12 weeks of aerobic training and 12 weeks of aerobic training + flaxseed supplementation have a significant effect on TNF-a, IL-6 and CRP in obese diabetic women. But taking flaxseed supplement alone has no significant effect on them, and aerobic exercise + taking flaxseed supplement has a significant effect on TNF-a, IL-6 and CRP in obese diabetic women compared to aerobic exercise and taking flaxseed supplement alone.
Conclusion: Based on the results of the present research, the consumption of flax seed supplement along with physical activity probably has a synergistic effect and increases the effects of physical activity.
