About SBio

Sport Biosciences (originally published as علوم زیستی ورزشی) is a double-blind peer-reviewed scientific journal published quarterly by the University of Tehran Press. As a Gold Open Access journal, it provides immediate, unrestricted, and free online access to its full-text articles, allowing researchers, academics, and sports professionals worldwide to read, download, and share high-quality scientific content. The journal is published in electronic format, featuring full-text articles in Persian accompanied by extended and structured abstracts in English.

The journal has a rich and distinguished history of contributing to the advancement of sports sciences in Iran. It originally commenced its activities in 1999 (1378 SH) under its former title Harakat (Movement). Over a decade of continuous publication until 2009 (1388 SH), Harakat successfully released 39 issues containing 418 academic articles across various disciplines, including 168 articles in sports physiology, 108 in sports management, 80 in motor learning and development, and 62 in sports medicine. In January 2010 (Dey 1388 SH), starting from its 40th issue, the journal underwent a structural evolution, splitting into four distinct specialized sources to better serve the growing scholarly community, which led to the official establishment of Sport Biosciences.

Following its specialization, SBio dedicated its core mission exclusively to the discipline of exercise and sports physiology. The journal welcomes a wide range of original academic contributions, including fundamental, applied, and developmental research articles, as well as review articles. By providing a rigorous and esteemed platform for peer-reviewed studies, the journal aims to bridge the gap between theoretical laboratory knowledge and practical applications in sports physiology, serving as an invaluable resource for researchers, educators, practitioners, and sports enthusiasts.

Committed to maintaining the highest international standards of publication ethics and academic integrity, SBio adheres to a double-blind peer-review policy. This ensures that all submitted manuscripts undergo an objective, unbiased, and anonymous evaluation by independent experts in the field. Each submission undergoes initial structural and thematic screening before being evaluated by at least two expert reviewers selected by the board based on their specific expertise. Adhering to the highest standards of publishing integrity, the journal follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE https://publicationethics.org) and strictly complies with executive regulations regarding the prevention of fraud in scientific works. Under the leadership of its distinguished editorial board and backed by the academic prestige of the University of Tehran, the journal strives to foster global scientific discourse, support innovative research, and contribute significantly to the international sports science community.
